Arwyn Week 17: 4th Annual BaconFest! - 10/15/2015

Arwyn has pretty consistently started sleeping a good 6-8 hour stretch these days, hooray!  It often starts as early as 5:00pm however, so there is still a night wake-up between 1-3am, and then she's up between 6 and 6:30.  Not too bad for such a little one, I'll take it!  We celebrated BaconFest this weekend, and something in the most delicious pulled pork that I have ever tasted (made by Josh) does not agree with Arwyn because she has started having green poop for the first time ever.  Detective Katharine is on the case...  Other than that, she's still happy, smiley, and loves hanging out in people's laps.

Leia is getting pretty consistent with her colors now.  I would say she's accurate about 90% of the time, and when she's not right, sometimes I actually think she's messing with my to be funny.  She also asked me to buy broccoli from the store for her, and when I brought it home and roasted it with oil and salt, she loved it!  Yay, another food victory!  Her characteristic pronunciation of a few words recently has left us with the giggles.  She loves to say, "I do it my saay-elf!" and "Sank you!"  It's very cute.

Push up training for the whole family!

Meeting of the minds!

When I told Leia these boots were too small for her now, she concluded that they must fit Arwyn!

This girl sure does love to hug me!

First time fishing in Squaw Creek!

The leaves were really biting today!

4th Annual BaconFest means that Josh is busy with the smoker all day!

A look at the goods...bacon fat basted smoked chickens, pork shoulder, and the best pulled pork ever tasted!  Also on the menu: bacon mousse, bacon jam, bacon wrapped dates, and bacon-spinach salad.

The grill master and his right hand man executing the carving.

Leia had a bunch of friends over at "her house."

Arwyn loves snuggling with her Honorary Aunt Biby!

The kids just liked the party, they didn't understand about the bacon...maybe next year.

Pumpkin maple bacon ice cream cake...definitely a hit!

A good crew and a good turnout for another successful BaconFest!

Get back here Emmett, don't you even think about getting out of this tub!

Leia was so excited to have Avery come over to play!

Arwyn and Megan, digesting another successful baconfest and surveying the chaos below!

The non-bacon eaters got hungry!

Sorry, I just love these shots.

And after 4 months of getting loved on by Leia (aka, slightly abused), Arwyn finally finds herself on top of the dog pile, and is able grab back a bit!

Leia's new favorite thing is collecting fall colored leaves...she literally fights the older kids at school to steal the prettiest ones from them!

Everyone was so excited for pumpkin carving until we got started...Arwyn was too tired, Leia had the bugs and bee's attacking her eyes, and Josh was stressed from all the screaming.

Our pumpkins turned out pretty good anyway...a menacing face and "No Noggin and the Spooky Old Tree" from Curious George's Boo Fest Movie.

Still look good all lit up.

Stop taking pictures and help me Mom, I don't need any hiemlich here!

Arwyn Week 13 Addendum: Hot Tub Time! - 9/17/2015

Took Arwyn and Leia in the hot tub with the Go Pro today for a little fun.  Got broken up a little early when Leia announced that she'd gone pee in the hot tub!  By the looks of the water, looks like that wasn't the first time she'd done it, just the first time she bothered to tell us!  Time the change the water I guess!

Arwyn was pretty serious most of the time, but that's kinda her MO until she figures a new thing out.  I think she did like it, but I don't think she liked it quite as much as Leia at that age, but Leia's sign is the Water Snake, so I guess that makes sense!

Baby's float by themselves when you use regular Huggies diapers that balloon up!

Mommy and baby!

Underwater fun.

Leia wanted to hold Arwyn's hand the whole time!

The girls!

Noodle floats.

Doubles noodle floats!

Now she's getting a little excited about this!

Oh yeah, that's because she's doing her favorite thing: stand ups!

That Daddy sure is funny!

Psyched to have her little sister in on the hot tub fun!

Arwyn Week 16: Baby Bubbles - 10/8/2015

Arwyn had her first full night downstairs in her bedroom this week!  I was kind of being lazy and continuing to bring her up with me when she woke at 10pm-ish, but all of a sudden, she slept so long, all the way until 2am or something, so rather than stimulating her more by going upstairs, I just kept her down.  It's nice when they make these graduations on their own and you don't have to make difficult decisions yourself.  She likes to blow lots of little bubbles with the spit in her mouth, so this week's little nickname is "Bubbles."  And she is impressively adept at making these loud clicking sounds with her tongue, so funny!

Leia has taking a hiatus from potty training, but this week, she had a full week of sitting on the potty first thing in the morning and pooping in the potty.  It was quite a celebration; she was very proud of herself, as were we.  We then had the satisfaction of sending the whole video to Uncle Cody and PopPop, who are both disgusted by the whole process of kids learning to poop and potty.  She's also continuing to make progress in the food arena: Josh made this really delicious stew that I knew she would like, but she kept being a turd and not trying it, without even giving it an investigation.  Well finally I pulled out a few carrots and showed her that they were in the stew and she paused, thought about it, got interested, and tried them.  Low and behold, she enjoyed the taste, and proceeded to chow down the rest of the bowl of stew!  I was so happy!  Leia's comic relief this week was when I had out the step stool to change light bulbs in the kitchen ceiling and she yells, "I do it, I'm taller!" Ok Leia, you do it!

Post-bath hair with no brushing...it's got some body!

Modeling the new belly dancing skirt from Nana and Poppy's trip to Greece and Turkey!

Look Mommy, Uncle Jesse helped me make a Pineapple Tree!

Got Popcorn Corn in our veggie box this week...pops right off the cob!

Little Red Riding Hood looks so cute in her lacy bonnet, although she wasn't any happier wearing it than Leia was 2 years ago!

Shoes over footie jammies, infant glasses...little weirdo!  But she is tall enough to push the stroller by herself!

So peaceful.

Look closely, these two are literally making the exact same face without even knowing it...definitely looks like her Daddy!

Turning on the monitor makes me smile.

Leia says, "Arwyn wants to wear these!"  Translation: Leia wants Arwyn to wear these.

Kick, kick, wiggle, wiggle.

Cute new jammies from Auntie Jen!

"Cornholio!"

That was a little Beavis and Butthead trivia...anyone with me here?
