Leia Week 84: Springtime in February - 2/4/2014

It is so fun watching Leia's vocabulary and skills make huge leaps every day.  This week she's starting to put strings of words together when she imitates us.  If Josh grabs her in a bear hug and says "I got you!", she'll grab him back and reply "I got you!"  A few more favorites are "let's find baby,"  "I'm coming," "I foun it," "You get away," (followed by shoving either Josh or I out of the way) and "I fick it" (aka., I fix it).  It's really exciting.  We took a week off from skiing, but it was nice and sunny, so we enjoyed other outdoor adventures (including lots of hot tub time...she pretty much doesn't let a day go by without requesting a dip in the "hot tubby").  After hitting a pretty dark spot, I decided to take control of my life, get off my nausea meds (they were making me so tired and I was still nauseous anyway), and get out for a little exercise.  Leia doesn't like the stroller, she won't walk far, and she's too heavy to carry, so I decided to throw her in the back pack and try hiking (that ways she's up at my level interacting with me, but not a burden on my arms).  The pack was really heavy (mostly because she is really heavy!), it was hard to keep it from squashing my belly, and the whole thing was exhausting, so I didn't make it too far, but all in all, a successful adventure.  Hopefully more to come.

We had our 19 week ultrasound as well, so we have our first pictures of little #2! Plus a quick peak at my current belly size.

Look who discovered our awesome palm hat that we made in Jamaica!  I like that Party Hat!

Fun Super Bowl Party with the Leunigs and the Shirleys.

Pretty psyched to be allowed to watch TV and eat in the living room...party rules!

Dancing to the music of the half time show!

Fun hike up Shirley Canyon with Mom...we were both bummed that we forgot the water bottle though!

Checking out the raging waterfalls...not normal for February!

Fun afternoon with Mommy and Leia.

Getting goofy for the camera!

We asked her for the first time to smile for the camera...this is what we got!

Thanks Uncle Worm for the Worm Shoes...these are her new favorite slippers!

Daddy Day dress up party!

Big air!

More fun with dressing up...these slippers are so cute but totally deadly...almost had a first twisted ankle...time to toss those things out!

Belly at 19 Weeks.

3D of Baby Girl at 19 weeks.  Looks a bit like Leia did at this time:)

Another view, better of the hands, but now the face it a bit scary!

Leia Week 83: Fun in the Winter Sun - 1/28/2015

Life in the world of Leia is pretty darn good these days.  She's so much fun to play with because whatever she's doing in the moment is the best thing in the world.  And my nausea has finally let up a little bit during the daytime (still comes back with a vengeance every afternoon and evening), so I'm finding that playing with her is no longer so painful to endure and actually quite entertaining (nothing she is doing has really changed, I just don't feel quite so much like death so I'm not always wishing to be in bed instead of whatever else we are doing!).  Also, school is back to being so much fun.  She's back to not crying when I drop her off.  In fact, as soon as we walk in the door and she see's some cool activity that is going on, she forgets about me instantly and I can barely get a kiss goodbye!  Her teacher Jenny is like a god, and is teaching her so many amazing things...apparently she's learning to use scissors and glue!!??  And Joe, she can't get enough of Joe.  He's not even her regular teacher, but he comes in all the time to do guitar and music, and according to Leia he's pretty awesome!

It's been really warm and sunny, and there is literally no snow left anywhere in the neighborhood, so we've had a lot of fun playing outside.  Our neighbor Mor Mor (aka Linda) showed her how to walk across the creek on the bridge, and where the beaver chewed down the Aspen tree...she loved it all.  And we had another ski day, but Nana and Poppy couldn't make it, so she didn't enjoy it as much as last time.  She kept looking all around the hill for them, pointing at people hoping each one was "Poppy."  In the end we cut the trip short so she wouldn't get a bad association with skiing, we want her to be happy and enjoy it.  No need to force anything.

Just hanging and snacking on some Puffs.

Likes sunscreen these days, but only if I let her help apply it too.

Psyched about her new snowsuit from one of Josh's athletes...Thank you!

Bit of a tight fit, but Leia doesn't mind!

Such a sweet little face! (And thank you Aunt Joanne for the cute shirt!)

Time for Golf practice!

This is why TV is not normally allowed...can you see the extreme concentration?!

Fun on the slide all winter long!

When you don't have snow, sledding requires a really good imagination!

Nature hike!

Hydrating before a big day on the slopes.

Love these two cuties!

Heading up the Magic Carpet...she's quite the expert now!

Yeah, I've had enough skiing for today, can we go check out the Après now?

She loves reading her books so much she fell asleep with one on her face!

Lovely day for a stroll with the baby.

It's very important that baby gets properly swaddled in her favorite PJ's!

Blast off space saucer!

Leia Week 82: Ski Day with Nana and Poppy - 1/21/2015

Nanna and Poppy joined us on the slopes this week, and boy did that make Leia's day!  The only problem was that she loved watching them more than watching where she was going, so if they didn't stay in front, she spent a lot of time looking back up the hill.  We also took a few runs on the really big part of the mountain...Far East!  Talk about a big day for Leia.

Leia is also really into the moon right now.  She loves to see the moon, point out the moon (both in the sky and anytime she see's it on a page of a book), draw the moon, and say the word "moon".  And the way she says the word is so cute, but I'm still trying to figure out how to spell her version phonetically so that other's will understand.  The best Josh can come up with is "meun" or "mön", but these may not be right, so I'll just have to try to get it on video soon.  She's always trying to find it in the day time, and I feel bad telling her that she'll have to wait until nighttime to see the moon, but then she goes and makes me a lier by finding the moon right there in the daytime sky.  I'm always so amazed! Another cute word she uses these days is "mikos" for mittens.  I love it so much that sometimes I use it too rather than correcting her.  And "airplane".  He senses are so keen she can hear and spot airplanes before anyone else.  Josh and I are constantly amazed.  A distant rumbling sound will happen, and before we even realize it, she's shouting airplane, pointing to the sky, and locating it instantly.  So advanced!

Helping to assemble the new doll-size pack-n-play.

Look guys, I found peas in my shopping cart!

Testing out the toy bed...should fit baby sister just fine!

Dinner at Nana'a.

Loving all the extra privileges at Nana and Poppy's...like sitting up on the high stool!

Helping Nana tear lettuce for the salad.

Supposedly this kid is always smiling, but seems like he's always so serious when we are around!

Leia showing her cousin how properly utilize all the features of the jumper.

Cutie pie Emmett chillin in his jumper.

Love how sweet they look when they sleep!

For ski day #3, Dad was working on having her stand up alone.

Riding the magic carpet with Nana and Poppy!

It's fun to ski with Mommy too!

Riding up the big girl chair!

Skiing is just the best!

More fun chair rides.

Uh oh, lost a ski off the lift!

She loved the off piste adventure of retrieving the dropped ski!

Gliding on her own!

More solo sliding...she has such great balance and is not afraid!

Navigating the lift line with Daddy.

Chair rides with Poppy are fun...especially when Mom is there to make sure Poppy doesn't throw anyone off!

Going down the steeps!

Hey Nana, check me out!

Hi Poppy, look over here!

Little speedy!

Definitely a fun treat to have Nana and Poppy out with us today.

Whoa, look who was ready to head up Far East to the big mountain!

Ready to head down Red Dog Face...talk about big time!

Navigating down Champs Elysee...Leia is getting a taste of our normal stomping grounds.

She even got a little glimpse of Oly Lady...she'll be up there soon!

Family selfie on the 6 pack lift!

Ready to head home after a great afternoon on the slopes!

Out for a little walk with Mom.

We found an appropriate sized shovel, so next time it snows, I think we'll have a good helper.

Very intent on moving snow from the ground into the big shovel for further disposal.

All our friends feel the need to wear their down sweaters in our house when they come over, but this girl prefers to wear nothing but boots!  Not phased.  I think we have a Polar Bear Champion in the making!

Pretty rainbow over the mountain as seen from the top of Josh's course.
