Lake Cushing Crossing on 4th of July??

Since it was still snowing and freezing all of April and May until Squaw closed, they never had the Cushing Crossing. Instead, they decided to have it on July 4th. They opened skiing on the mountain, millions of people showed up, and we had an awesome crossing with a little bit of farmed snow down by KT. This year I was a "Flying Fish Out of Water." Jody, Josh, and I ended up spending a total of 24 man hours making my costume. We hand cut and glued and sewed all the fish skin and scales on both sides. Plus we constructed a fancy pair of fish fins/wings. It was awesome!! Unfortunately it was a little too much drag and I didn't really make it too far across. Oh well, I guess you gotta fall in sometime! And man, was it cold! Thanks for all the help Jody and Josh!

Stacia's Bachelorette Weekend 8/20/11

We headed down to the Eldorado County Wine Country for Stacia's Bachelorette weekend. We started off with some great wine tasting at Boeger and Lava Cap. Then we headed back to our campsite and played on the lake at the Sly Park Reservoir. Of course I managed to delete all the photos off my camera from the month of July while trying to free up space, and then managed to take only one picture of the whole trip anyway (plus one on my phone)...doh! Oh well, we had a great group of girls, lots of laughs, and lots of fun. Thanks everyone!

Chillin' on our tubes on the lake after a great morning of wine tasting.

Fun bachelorette antics by the campfire.

Cody and Lassen in July 2011

Josh's brother Cody came to stay with us for the month of July. Sorry to everyone else, but Cody wins as the best houseguest ever, based on his superior dishwashing skills (I never had to redo anything he washed, no leftover grease or anything!) and his ability to be quieter than a mouse when moving around the house on the floor above us (never heard him, not once, and I always hear people up there!!). Cody is welcome back anytime. We also had a ton of really fun adventures while he was here, including 2 trips to Mt. Lassen, a lot of kayaking on Tahoe, and some good hikes. Unfortunately I never uploaded the photos to my computer before they were accidentally erased from my camera at Stacia's bacheloretty party in August. Total bummer! I did manage to salvage a few randoms from my iPhone and from Ryan Adam's camera, so I guess it's not a complete loss...

Trip #1 to Lassen was just the three of us Transue's, and we took a different route than usual since the road was still closed through the park. We skinned up from a lower lot on the west side, and found some awesome corn turns!

Josh after some kick-ass turns.

Trip #2 to Lassen was the full crew again. And we took the traditional route up to the peak since we had hit it on the only weekend it was open all season!

The group hiking up.

Josh, hammering up the trail.

Looking across at the ridge in the distance where we skied the weekend before.

And looking down at the parking lot where we started.

Hunter and Cody arriving at the summit!

Troy, also happy to have made it to the top.

Ryan and Biby, with the lower part of our descending route in the background.

Kat and Johnny at the summit.

Ryan getting in on the photo action as well.

Troy and John getting ready to hit the slopes.

More of the gang at the landing below the treacherous climb down from summit to snow.

Biby was all thumbs up after some sweet corn snow turns...our route is in the background.

The whole group was smiles after those arcs.

Hiking down to the bottom parking lot after exhausting the snowier route.

Ryan and Biby with Lassen Peak.

Chillaxin' by the creek after a great day of hiking and skiing.

Back in Tahoe, we heading over to Northstar for a fun evening of wine, sushi, and Blues Traveler concert.

4th of July Fun on the Lake 7/2/11

Per annual tradition, we headed out on Lake Tahoe on the Matthews' boat for booze cruising and picnicing. Good company, good food, and good fun! Happy 4th everyone!! Gotta love Tahoe.

Katharine, Lauren, Dan, Josh, and Adam...all smiles with our matching shades!

Shirley Canyon Snow? Adventure 6/12/11

There was still so much snow everywhere, we thought we'd take a little ski in Shirley Canyon. Turns out it was a little more melted out at the bottom then we thought. We had to hike a pretty good amount on the dirt in our boots (not fun), but when we finally did find the snow, it was totally worth it. We got some really great skiing!

John, Kishka, Stacia, Josh, and Ryan taking a little break mid-way up.

Katharine was there too (just for the record)!

Cool rocky outcroppings overhead of John and Stacia.

The climb was pretty steep in some spots...

...but everyone made it to the top...

...now to relax and ski!

Ryan arcing it up.

Even found a burried snowboard under all the 68' of snow!!

Still Skiing in June?? 6/11/11

The mountains are closed, but it's still snowing...guess it's time to get hiking! Josh and I got some great uphill exercise and really fun downhill turns...snow was untouched.

We finally have Josh completely decked out with all the gear he needs for skinning and backcountry skiing...we'll get him in shape and have fun too!

What a handsome dude!

At the top and ready to make some turns!

Squaw Valley Adventures 4/30/11

We had a very small and short-lived break in the storm cycle at the end of April, just long enough to finally get back out for a little backcountry ski action and fun in the sun. We got a great crew of our Squaw peeps together for a little picnic at Heidi's Rock after a great morning of hiking.

We left the skins at home today and just did a good bit of boot-packing from Gold Coast up to Granite Peak (Squaw allowed hiking this year after the lifts started closing)!

Katharine and Josh at the top of Granite Peak looking out over the lake.

Troy, Ryan, and John also on the Peak.

Enjoying our well earned ski down.

Josh and Ryan q'in up a few brauts.

Santa Barbara Birthday Bash 4/22/11 - 4/25/11

Josh and I took a little break from all the snow and headed down to Santa Barbara, CA for a little fun in the sun. It was another awesome Robinson/Sullivan production as it was Trevor and Marco's joint birthday party. We had about 11 friends descend on Trevor's family beach house, the last house out on a point in Carpinteria. It was absolutely amazing...water on both the front and back side of the house, 3 decks, only 1 neighbor, beach volley ball in their back yard, and of course, a private ocean beach. We were totally spoiled and had a great time!

Relaxing on the deck and getting ready to hit the water for surfing and boogie boarding.

Prado, standing on the stone path leading to the beach, checking out the surf.

A competitve session of beach volleyball... Watch out for Josh's spike!

Looking out over the ocean and surfers from the yard.

Chelsea on her way up the rock step back to the house after a sweet boogie boarding sess.

Sarah, Josh, Trevor, and I headed out to the links for a little game of golf.

Looking off the "breakfast deck" on the front side at a beautiful rainbow.

Sunset over the back yard.

Katharine and Josh enjoying some yummy cocktails and a beautiful sunset.

Rena, Chels, and Josh and a very pretty sky.

So patriotic.

Kat and Chels.

Trevor and the surf board storage area of choice.

From the deck, you just walked along the planks past the volleyball court, down the rock stairs, and voila: ocean and beach. So amazing!

Hanging on the deck and doing their own things...

Looking up the beach to our right.

Tonight was the official birthday celebration, and since Trevor loves mustaches, of course we had a mustache theme.

Kat Dog and P-Bone rocking some sweet stashes!

Anna and Marco...such a good looking couple right here!

I forgot to mention...mustaches and WIGS at this party!

My handsome hubby.

A little Trevor and Marco themed game of Jeopardy with the lovely Chelsea White.

Who is that sexy golden man?

P really likes to strut around showing off his stuff...and we just couldn't get enough of that silver suit!

Chick magnet?

Oh my god, even Marco couldn't believe his eyes!

Lots of good laughs and smiles on this trip with such a fun group of people...Marco, Prado, and Trevor having a laugh right here.

Josh and I took a little sneak peak inside the famous Club P before the after hours action really got crazy...

Our friend Jim demonstrating his expertise with a lasso, even when its just some plain old beach rope.

The wild animal in the golden suit thought he could out run the lasso...

...lassoed, roped, and tied in less then 6 seconds! Nice work Jim!
