L&A Years 4&2 Week 46: Mother's Day and Fashion Mania - 5/10/2018

Leia loves a good party, and is apparently learning about the concept of making a grand entrance.  She got all dressed up for our "party" with Biby and Ryan, and wanted to make a grand entrance down the stairs when they arrived,  but when the moment came, she got a little embarrassed.  It was super cute though.  We started a new session of swimming this week, and Leia was freaking out about the possibility of her new swim coach being a new guy named Tristan.  She kept threatening not to participate if it was him, but luckily she was so excited to see her friend Mackenzie again, that she didn't have time to be a turd.  And in the end she loved Tristan, and had nothing but good things to say about him.  It was funny though, because like a typical guy, Tristan would fling his hair after coming up out of the water, to shake the water off.   Leia had never really seen someone do this before and made the comment that Tristan always shakes his head like a dog!  I was laughing.  Leia had a fun weekend playing with Echo, which they hadn't been able to do most of the winter.  I was glad that the little time off and mental growth helped them move past their differences.  We had a really fun mothers day tea party at school with the girls.  They were so excited to give me the gifts they had made, and the flowers, but then both girls ended up insisting that they be allowed to keep my flowers all day.  Oh well, at least they got enjoyed:)  Leia loves having me come visit her class at school, but I don't do it too much, and I feel bad because I should do it more and she's not going to be at that school much longer.  It's just hard because I have a lot of things I need to get done on my breaks, when I even get them.

Arwyn had a huge argument with me the day we went skiing this week.  She kept insisting that Mikaela Shriffin was not the best skier in the world, despite my explanation of all the millions of reasons why she was.  Finally Arwyn justified her case more clearly: "Kaela Shriffrin not the best skier.  I'm the best skier!  Not Kaelin Shriffin!"  Well, that shut me up!  You go Arwyn, you are the best!!  Arwyn's new favorite game is Eeny Meeny Miny Mo, but she's already figured out how to rig the game in her favor: "Eeny meeny miny mo, catch a tiger by the mo...my mom picks the best and that's me holding this!"  Arwyn loved playing and giggling with Ryan and Biby; she's such a little flirt with the older men!  Arwyn did an awesome job skiing this week.  She's been so good on the chair lift, and cooperative with the choice of runs.  She didn't even pee in her diaper the whole time skiing, and waited to use the potty until we were all done.  Arwyn is generally a good eater, and likes most of the dinners we make, but she eats sooooo slowly, and will chew a mouthful of food for so long and never swallow it.  We get so frustrated and tell her to hurry up and eat, and one night she was messing around on top of being slow, so we threatened to take away dinner and dessert, and she freaked out.  She got herself so worked up because she couldn't swallow that she finally just puked.  It's the weirdest thing though because she actually liked the food we were eating, and she was swallowing fine at the beginning, so I don't know what goes wrong at the end.  We are trying to be clear and consistent about eating by herself and in a reasonable time, and I think she is finally getting the message.  She was a little slow to eat breakfast one morning, but I refused to help her, so she finally just did it by herself.  She took her time to finish everything before getting in the car so that she'd get her treat, totally cooperative but slow!

Sunscreen is more fun when you turn yourself into a kitty cat!

Happy May the Fourth Be With You Day from Princess Leia! 5/4/2018

Showing off the heart shaped back opening in her cute new dress with a little sass!

Cutie patootie!

Always the generous friend, Leia was ready with presents for Ryan and Biby!

Bright colors make you smile!

Crazy patterns make you silly!

Love the teacher flotilla for moving littles around the pool!

Uh oh, Rye was teaching Leia about climbing trees!

The big one was a little too sketchy, so she choose one more her size.

The costume combo is a getting a bit crazy...Snow White the Yeti Jedi?

I'm glad they were having fun together, but they sure were pissed that Arwyn and I were invading their privacy!

When you wear a goofy outfit, it just makes sense to act goofy as well!

I think she's ready for Burning Man!

She's good at scooting!

Cousin fun time!

Family ski day with the Olcotts.

Fun to have our Poppy along for what may be one of our last ski days of the season.

I love skiing with kids when they are happy instead of cranky!

It was pretty rough and sloppy spring snow out there today, but that didn't slow down Miss Arwyn.  She charged through the mash with excellent balance, and carved up some amazing turns!

Arwyn got really excited and a little shy when she realized that Santa came out skiing today!

Chairlift selfie on a gorgeous spring day.

Fun to ski with Daddy today too, Leia was definitely taking notes!

Had a five minute argument with Arwyn, about whether or not Mikaela Shiffrin is the best skier in the world, and she would not accept any of my reasons. Finally she made her case properly: “Kaela Shiffrin is not the best. I am the best skier!!” Yeah you are Arwyn, you go girl!!

Wouldn't be a proper ski day without a apres ski frozen treat!

After blowing all her cash on ice cream last time, Leia realized that maybe the popsicle was the more economical option.

Sister snuggle time...they really do love each other so much when they aren't cranky!

Ok, I know this looks a little boring, but oh man, it was so good!  The marinade on the chicken made it so moist and delicious, and the roasted burst tomatoes just melted in your mouth!  Another successful Arbonne meal!

Leia wanted music at bedtime, but we didn't want her to have the screen time.  Out came the old tape deck boom box and my old tapes!  It's weird to feel dated!

Love the before school smiles!

Apparently Leia organized a fashion show at school today, and insisted she needed to wear some of her racier clothes.  Got Arwyn dialed in on it too.

Little practice session in the parking lot before school with their best fashion show model poses.

She claimed the teachers really did know about it.  I was skeptical, but whatever.  I love the passion, and this photo sequence, so it was worth it.

And, it turned out one of her teachers really did know about it, but she forgot to wear her fashion clothes.  I'm sure Leia was probably the only one...the power of persuasion and a vision!

Excited for our Mother's Day Tea Party at school.

Is she a cutie or what?!

It's nice to be celebrated by your beautiful children!

My lovely flowers from the girls.

Arwyn's Mother's Day Present...love the hand print memorabilia.

I think I'm actually a year older than last year, so she's keeping track, just a little off scale.  Other than that I think she knows me pretty darn well, it's pretty accurate!

A beautiful Leia hand plant.

My little travelers.  So excited to getting on a plane today!

What a difference a year makes, because these two did really well traveling this time around.  It wasn't too bad being by myself.

Luckily the long leg of the flight was first, before the iPad and movies ran out of battery!

Arwyn doesn't like screen time as much, we played a little bit more.

Arwyn and her baby...I think she's due very soon!

Getting a little restless in the airport during the layover...that 4 am wake up time is not so good for toddlers!

Crossing back and forth across the playful vs too much line...it's a delicate thing when you're tired!

I don't think that's a legal wrestling hold there, Leia!

After a long day of traveling, Arwyn and Leia were really excited to have finally arrived in Ohio to see their cousins!!

A little recharge nap in the car, and these two a ready to bounce off the walls again!

Destination Ohio; they finally get to see their cousins!  It's been way too long!

I know from past experience, it's pretty awesome to have fun older cousins to play with!  They loved Jordan and Carter, and felt comfortable instantly with both!
