Arwyn Week 100: Our Little Hopper Arwyn is 23 Months - 5/18/2017

I mentioned last week about how perceptive Arwyn is, and this week she demonstrated that skill again.  We were reading the "Put Me In The Zoo" Book, and when the dog turned his spots purple, she pointed to them and yelled out, "Leia!"  And it's true, Leia loves the color purple!  Arwyn pointed to the other colors and said, "Mine!" but every time she sees the purple spots, it's always "Leia."  It's so cute how well she knows her big sister.  Arwyn has been driving us crazy, especially in the mornings, because when I go to change her diaper and get her dressed, she says she wants to use the "poo-potty," but when I try to take her to the potty, she squirms away screaming "No!" So then I try to get her dressed, but she screams "poo-potty," then refuses to go again.  The tantrum goes on and on, never ends, and I can't get her dressed or do anything.  So aggravating!  Arwyn seems to like walking her bike on the leash more than riding it this week, which is also annoying because she can't really pull it that well.  You have to bend over and help her rather than using the more comfortable leash method because she won't give up the leash!  On the plus side, she did cooperate and sit through an entire haircut like a big girl for the first time!  It did help that she was on my lap watching clips from the movie South Pacific on my phone. Finally, Arwyn's cute word pronunciation for the week is "hel-moot."

I tried to introduce a new vegetable into the girls' repertoire this week, yellow squash. They both love zucchini, and the yellow squash isn't that much different, but of course Leia freaked. She gave an Oscar winning performance on her first bite, acting like it was the most painful thing. After bite #2 she actually said yum, but then continued to complain about having to take the third bite. She's so dramatic! Nana and Poppy took Leia to see a live performance of the musical South Pacific at Truckee High this week, so we kept watching clips and listening to songs all week in preparation.  Leia loved the songs, and was able to sing some of her favorites right away, like "Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair." Thanks to all the prep, she was excited to go, despite the fact that neither mom nor dad would be accompanying them, and she had a great time.  It was funny though, because when I discovered that her water bottle was missing, she was so sincerely regretful about her mistake: "Oh, I left it at the theater. I'm really sorry I let you down Mom." Leia had another Cooper rental this week. She insisted on taking him out for a walk on a leash when we went over to Nana's for Mothers' Day Dinner. She took him all over, much to his dismay, since he normally doesn't have to be on a leash!  Leia got to sleep in Nana's bed for the first time, instead of her normal mat on the floor up in John's old room. She definitely looked liked the the princess she is in that big bed, and she was so happy that she didn't even make a fuss about being put to bed by Nana instead of Mommy.  When I was driving home from work on Monday night, I noticed that they had finally opened the park gates.  I knew Leia would be so excited, and I wondered how long it would take her to figure it out. But Leia doesn't ever miss a beat, and sure enough, as we drove by the next morning, she yelled out "The gate is open!" Finally, Leia has decided she's really into the camping experience, so she pulled out her sleeping bag, and has been sleeping on the floor of her bedroom all week. The first day or two she was just on the hard thin carpet, then Daddy set up some seat cushions for her, and finally I got out the whole camping pad. We are really curious to see how long she keeps it up for.

X-ray of the teddy bear we took when Leia's class came on a field trip to my work.

The class sent me a very nice thank you note!

Leia's been learning her letters all year. They are already at 'S.'

These answers do change by the day, but this is pretty accurate!

Arwyn's starting to bring home more and more artwork.

Really love the vibrant splash of colors on this one!

Pretty funny to learn about kid's perceptions...pretty accurate except for the mustard part (didn't even know she knew what mustard was!), and I love the portrait!

Leia's current signature stamp, "Lai"...guess that letter 'e' is pretty tricky!

Arwyn's learning the fun of stamps!

Arwyn likes to figure out funny things to do and put on little shows for us.  This week, Zombie sounds!

Sometimes a lot of attention from your big sister can be fun, but sometimes it's annoying...always best to try in keep it funny.

Cool Cat and Copy Cat (who also insisted on wearing a robe as a sweater...cozy and functional, must take after her Dad!)

Swings are the best!

When you see your beloved Daddy pull into the parking lot of the park, stop everything and shout for joy!

Early Mother's Day Date Dinner

Not too sure about this whole haircut thing, but with a little bribing, she cooperated.

Not amused by her mother's idea of a good time.

Who knew getting a haircut was such a family affair!

All right Arwyn, looking sharp with the new do!

Best part of the haircut is the braid at the end!

Beautiful spring day, and one is wearing slippers while the other is wearing snow boots...what's up with these kids?!?

So much fun treasure hunting to be done all around Stephanie's building after the haircuts are done!

Love these little cuties!

Wohoo, there's the train!  Always exciting to see the train roll by.

Such a beautiful day and a beautiful girl.

"Look Mom, I found a stick and some mud!!"

I was hoping she'd stay on the dry part and just throw some rocks, but no, she had to get right into the thick of it (literally)!

After a fun treasure and mud hunt at Ryan and Biby's new house, we headed across the street to the park for a little hang time.

Picnics in the little house are the best!

Little kids look so cute in big hats!

Whether it's walking, running, or biking, Leia is the finish line winner every time!

Look who's strong enough to hang onto the rope swing all by herself this year!

Confident enough for some special tricks too!

"I see water. I have balls." Arwyn's happy place.

Arwyn is getting so confident with her floating these days!

It's a different kind of experience hot tubbing with these two goofs, but I could never go back to the boring old way...

My lovely card from Arwyn...she's such a cute little flower!

Shrinky Dink hand print keychain from Leia!  Or maybe I'll add it to my wine charm collection...

A pretty Mother's Day dress just wouldn't be complete without Leia's signature TuTu skirt on top...

I vetoed Leia's outfit choice for Arwyn (it was my special day after all) in favor of something a bit more traditional...I think Arwyn was secretly happy about my choice rather than Leia's.

Seriously, she's either a 20 year old stuck in a 3 year old body, or she was born to be an actress!

Reminiscing over Baby Leia and Baby Arwyn pics with Nana.

Giving us a little recap of the musical, South Pacific, that she went to see with Nana and Poppy today.

It's a new kind of fashion statement: fur coats with rubber scarves...guess she may be heading down her sister's footsteps after all!

Despite usually liking the extra attention, Cooper was not psyched to be on a leash walk in his own back yard!

Password = Leia

When Leia needs a dog fix, we just have to borrow Cooper.  She really wanted to walk him on the leash (it's all about control these days with Leia), but I'm not sure who was walking who today!

A little Mother's Day art project.

We all liked how Leia really took advantage of every available section of paper!

And Arwyn had a lot of nice thickness and texture going on!

Bed time stories with Nana in a big beautiful bed fit for a queen (or princess)!

Sleeping beauty in the big bed!

Fire fighter visits at school today!

Squaw Valley's newest (and littlest) volunteer fire fighter!

Fun binocular making arts and crafts!

I see you!

Leia's cutting edge dance moves combine techniques from ballet, hip hop, yoga, and modern dance...hard to believe she's no other professional training besides 2 days of ballet class!!  So advanced!

A rare serious and quiet moment.

Jump for joy, Arwyn is 23 months old!

Dancing and singing!

Big spin!

Love the big smiles.

And this is her cute little innocent look.

Always ready for some laughing (ok, not always).

She can boogie down while she sits too.

Getting so tall!

Always so silly.

And now a little photo montage of the faces of Arwyn the Actress:

Dumbfounded?

Surprised!

Judging.

Nervous!

Awed!

Thoughtful.

Disapproving.

And excited!
