Leia Week 99: "My Dash" Comes To Town - 5/20/2015

The Robinsons came to Tahoe for a visit this week, so we got to meet baby Dash for the first time, and man is he a cutie! And lucky Leia had a baby to take care of again, so that was the best, and such good practice for when her sister arrives!  She got to hold him, tickle him, and help put his blanket on him..."My Dash" was how she referred to him.  Bless their hearts, Chels and Trev were very patient with her and her version of "gentle."  In fact, they were so great with her that she took to them almost as well as she took to Dash.  When we left for school on the last day, Leia says to me, "I need my Trevor!" and was so distraut that I couldn't produce him.  And when I picked her up at the end of the day, she insisted that she needed to go see Chelsea.  I'm always so impressed at how good she is with names of people , even when she didn't get to play with them very much!

Leia is picking up on so many things that we say, which is of course very normal. But what impresses us so much is her ability to randomly pull these phrases out of her bag of tricks and use them totally appropriately in conversations.  One morning when we went upstairs to wake up Daddy, Josh asked her how she was doing this morning?  Her response: "I had a good sleep."

We have lots of wild life around our house these days, which provides endless entertainment for Leia.  She loves hunting for bunnies, although she's mostly unsuccessful since they seem to come out mostly after her bedtime.  But they also come out in the mornings, so she has seen a few and loves it. Josh always tells her to dream about bunnies when he's putting her down, so she loves to talk about that too.  We also had a wood pecker pecking at our house, much to our annoyance.  But Leia sure got a kick out of the whole thing, and was constantly talking about the "pesky bird pecking the house!"  And after Josh successfully eliminated the problem with his sling shot, Leia was so proud of him (even if she didn't really understand exactly what had happened)..."Daddy got the pecker!"

Successful Bunny Hunt!

Leia's gun show.

She loved her little badger tattoo...always wanted to see "my badger"!

She's getting very brave with her climbing...made it all the way up on her own, Daddy wasn't actually touching!

Mommy's worst nightmare...she found the hidden pink tutu!!

Painting the walls (and cabinets) of the new nursery...so much work when you also have a 2 year old around!

So much fun watching Dash do his baby thing!
