Arwyn Week 96: First Egg Hunt for our 22 Month Old - 4/2017

Arwyn had a bit of a difficult week, having her first stomach flu ever.  Luckily for Mom, started on Grandma's watch, at 3:30 in the morning.  She was crying for help, and then Grandma found her covered in vomit.  She said had to clean her up and cuddle her, and she said Arwyn was such a little sad sack, sitting on the chair waiting for her bed to get cleaned up.  Poor little thing!  We thought she was better by the morning because she was happy and smiling, but then we went skiing and Arwyn starting fussing pretty quickly, so I took her into the lodge to rest.  She was tantruming so much, couldn't decide if she wanted to keep skiing or not, but as soon as we got settled on the deck, she puked all over.  Thank goodness we were outside!  She conked out for a huge nap after that, and woke up all chipper and hungry.  I only let her eat apple sauce at first, but then she insisted on a purple squeezie as well, and next thing we knew, she puked at the dinner table!  Leia was horrified because some of it splattered on her milk cup and near her plate, and proceeded to ask if the Easter Bunny would still come since Arwyn was being bad!  Arwyn didn't really eat much the next day, but she also didn't puke anymore, thank goodness.  Arwyn got to ski 2 days into a row with Grandma and PopPop, but unfortunately they weren't her best days since she ended up being sick.  Of course, we didn't know it the first day, so we thought it was so funny when she fell asleep on the ski lift!  She didn't even wake up when I unloaded and bumpily skied all the way down to the Funitel to download.  Unfortunately, I was by myself and realized I didn't really have enough hands to carry her and both of our skis without waking her up, so I decided to just let her take a nap right there on the snow where I had put her down.  She was so cute lying there, and every single person who got off the Funi and walked past couldn't help but smile and ooooh and ahhh.  I used to think she wasn't as tough as Leia because she was bothered by teething much more than Leia, but she was totally cheerful the entire time she was sick besides when she was actually puking, so I think I was under estimating her.  Arwyn's sickness was basically most of Saturday, and so of course Leia ended up getting sick by early morning Tuesday.  Leia had to stay home from school that day, so I just took Arwyn, and she was very concerned about the fact that Leia wasn't in the car with us.  She pointed over at Leia's empty seat saying, "Yay-ya!"  I explained that she was sick and staying home, and she seemed ok with it.  But then by the end of the day, she totally forgot (she doesn't normally see Leia during the day much anyway), so after I got her from her class room and was heading out the front door, she got concerned all over again about why we weren't picking Leia up from school.  She was pointing and trying to walk over to Joe's class, saying  "Yay-ya!"  It was so cute!  She's also getting so good at repeating almost any word that you say, even her teacher's name, so now when we leave school she calls out "Bye bye Header!" in her soft little voice.  So sweet.  Arwyn's starting to have tantrums in the morning about her clothing.  Sometimes she'll wear whatever I pick, but other days she's picked something out herself and if I try to override it, she freaks out.  Once she starts tantruming, it's so hard to stop because she loses track of what she even wants, everything pisses her off after that, and there is no way to recover!  She's really been getting back at Leia for always stealing her toys from right out of her hand by refusing to share something that Leia wants.  "Arwyn's not sharing!"  "No, she's just taking her turn now.  And remember earlier when you took her toy and didn't share with her?"  Of course, once Arwyn see's that I've backed her up and given her a good amount of time with the toy, she usually does offer it back to Leia for her turn.  She really is a pretty good sharer.  The other day I explained to her about setting a timer and having 5 minutes each with a very coveted computer toy, and when the timer went off, Arwyn actually did go give it to Leia for her turn without any hassle, it was great.   Arwyn has also started eating her cereal with milk and a "poon," which seems like some sort of milestone for sure!

Leia was in heaven this week with her grandparents in town.  It was a short trip for them, and due to the weather we had to ski 2 days in a row, which I new was going to be a problem for Leia, but decided to go for it anyway.  Big mistake!  She was such pain in the butt to try to get out the door and in the car, and I found myself straddling her on the cement forcing the sunscreen on her face.  Not a proud moment, but she's so infuriating sometimes.  And all that for no real reason because she actually loves skiing and has such a good time when we are out on the slopes.  I just don't understand why she never wants to go when she always has fun?  I'm already freaking out about next year and if we'll be able to get her to ski more than one day a week or not!?  Leia had a great time at this year's Easter Egg Hunt, as usual.  The only difference this year was that she was actually the oldest, so she totally dominated the hunt.  She was running like a wild child trying to find the most eggs, which she definitely did, but at the sacrifice of being more thorough.  Usually she's so good at finding hidden treasures, but she was in such a hurry that she only saw the obvious ones.  Oh well, I'm sure we found them all in the end.  As I mentioned above, Leia ended up catching Arwyn's stomach flu, so she had her very first sick day home from school.  She and Daddy had a grand old time lying around, watching movies, and drinking smoothies.  It was pretty much the best day ever, and as we feared, she is now all about trying to weasel sick day excuses to stay home.  It was a big fight to get to school the next day!  Leia has started trying to plan out her birthday party.  She wants to have it at the KidZone Museum like her other friends did, and she's always talking about who she wants to invite.  She's very fickle, one day a school friend might piss her off, and bam, off the list!  I was thinking I'd still have some control over this birthday party, but I'm starting to see she's going to need to be very involved!  It will be in our yard for at least one more year though!  Josh had to go down to Mammoth for work this week, so Poppy picked the girls up from school one night.  Usually they all get along just fine, but the week Leia put up a real fight about bedtime routine.  I got home at 9:45 and found the two of them still sitting on the stairs having a stand-off about using the toilet before bed!  She is so ridiculous!  And the worst of it is that she's constantly asking if Poppy will come babysit her instead of having to go skiing with us, but after treating him so terribly, I don't know why she would think he'd ever want to come again!  Of course he will, but now I have good fuel to use against her when she's trying to get out of coming somewhere.

Grandparent ski day at Squaw; Leia not interested in pictures.

Arwyn loves to ski until she gets tired, then not so much.

Leia loved riding up the lift with Grandma and PopPop.

It's the Ski Train, and Arwyn's in the lead!

Skiing in her new Easter Dress!

I told you Arwyn was getting tired...she totally passed out on the chairlift, and stayed asleep even when we got off!

Powder skiing in the terrain park!

Beautiful spot for a little nap!

I was going to take her down the funi, but decided to just let her take her rest in peace.

It made everyone's day seeing this little sleeping cutie when they got off the funi!

Ok, 40 minutes later it was time to head down...still sleeping...

The transfer onto the Funi finally woke her up...now we have a much happier, well rested little girl on our hands!

All rested up and ready to hit the village with PopPop.

Looks like a movie star trying to be incognito!

Swing and jump!

"Hand!" says Arwyn, indicating she wants to hold your hand while walking.

Arwyn's first time getting her very own cup of ice cream from the ice cream store!

Nothing better than a little ice cream treat from PopPop after a great day of skiing!

Hmm, this little German Shepard looks friendly...oh wait, that's because he's just stuffed!

A tentative kiss!

PopPop was impressed by our high snow banks, but this was nothing, it had already melted a few feet  by this time!

Always talking on the phone, this one!

First princess ever in the history of princesses who was pissed about taking a ride on her very own unicorn!

We had a little issue with sunscreen cooperation today...she did not earn her sunscreen treat after this application!

All the mornings troubles were forgotten once we got to hit the slopes and snuggle with Grandma on the chairlift.

Looks like the Easter Bunny came to Alpine today!

Heading into the Hot Wheels Gully with no help...impressive!

And our she comes...big smiles!

Lucky us, we stumbled upon Crazy Hat Making Day at Alpine!

Password = Leia

After a great year of ski school, Leia is ripping down the slopes all by herself, laughing, and looking for speed.  She even had her first taste of "off-piste" skiing in the powder and in the Hot Wheels Gully.

Out for a spin to show off her fancy new hat!

Password = Leia

Sun is out, music is blasting, and Leia is dancing and driving in her Jeep!  Love those moves!

Time to decorate some Easter Eggs!

Arwyn's first time participating in this fun event.

Only took Arwyn a minute to figure out how cool this project was going to be...dumping eggs into color? Yes!

Last year Leia put each egg into every single color...this year she had things figured out, and was really making some pretty eggs!

Stay out of Daddy's way, he takes his egg dying very seriously!

Ohhh, very pretty Leia!

Nice work Arwyn, that's some great coloring!

PopPop also gets competitive with the egg thing, must be where Josh got it!

Loved watching how serious Arwyn took this whole project...she was all business!

Big winner of the best egg!

MumMum loved watching all the action.

And here they are, the final products!

Leia came down the stairs with the blanket over her head riding the horse...headless monster riding a unicorn!

Uh oh, the Easter Bunny pooped all over our house when he came to deliver Easter baskets!

Wow, what a haul! Easter Bunny was feeling generous this year!

Pretty new Easter dress, but she was being silly instead of modeling it!

Little Miss Cool Cat Princess over here!

Enjoying some Easter Bunny treats!

Fun with stampers!

Heading to Nana's for the Easter Egg hunt!

The princesses liked their unicorn a little better today!

Always fun to parade down the street with these cuties!

Arwyn spotting her first egg!

This is no easy egg hunt at Nana and Poppy's; many obstacles to watch out for, like this tree branch and the raging creek below!

Cuteness!

Found another!

Now she's on a roll, finding eggs with no help at all!

It worked out perfectly, Leia and Emmett ran down to the creek, so Arwyn got to take her time to find all the treasures up around the deck with no competition.

Seriously, it's the most picturesque egg hunt ever I think!

A little surprised to see an easter chick hiding in the grass.

Leia found so many eggs that she needed an Egg Butler to help keep track of her stuff!

You had to run pretty fast to keep up with Leia this year!

Not as calculated with her hunting skills as in years past, but she used speed to make up for it!

Even on crutches, Nana made it down to the waters' edge to get a look at all the action!

MumMum keeping watch over Leia's loot after she had to switch to a second basket!

Gotta love our Unicorn!

Still lots of snow in some places along this hunt!

Oh happy day, and to hell with the rest of the hunt, Arwyn found a Shobel!

Emmett made out pretty will on this hunt too!

So many great nooks and crannies to hide eggs around here!

After filling up both her easter baskets, Leia finally slowed down a bit to help her baby sister.

She would not, however, slow down enough to get in the "Cousins Picture."  But these two cuties are holding their own.

She was definitely on a mission!

The creek was raging!

Leave no stone unturned!

Reach a little farther!

Emmett did a pretty good job of keeping up with Leia...next year it will probably be a real competition!

Arwyn loves being outside, and the eggs were just an added bonus.

Cooper was a little pissed that he didn't get to hunt for anything, so he stole Arwyn's ball!

The Lange Family.

Easter Love.

Going through all the loot; these guys made quite a haul!

Nana checking out the scene from the comfort of her scooter.

We used to fight over all the toys, but now Leia actually shares and even gives some away!

Thank you Aunt Joanne for all our great Chef Hats!

Love that sweet little face!

"I like bubba!"

Arwyn looked so pretty in her new Easter dress!

There pretty much isn't anything better than bubbles in Arwyn's book!

Blow, blow, blow!

Sweetnes.

My loves.

Explaining to Mommy that everything will be ok, and that I shouldn't freak out and get upset about things.  Sometimes she is so sweet and reasonable!

More bubble time!

Bubbles are the best thing EVER!

Leia's actually getting pretty good at making her own bubbles!

Happy girl.

Great smile.

Grandma love!

Heading home with all the loot!

Hop on Pop!

Turns out Arwyn plays a mean harmonica...really nice musical accompaniment.

On the phone again!  And I don't know who she's calling because Grandma and PopPop are here!

Leia decided to be a hairdresser tonight.  She did a perfect imitation of our hairdresser Stephanie, down to the chin tuck/look down and everything!

Arwyn got in on the action too.

Very proud of her work, and it's definitely very original!

Next victim, I mean client, was Daddy!

Did a little work on her own hair too, but hers actually looked really cute.

Josh made us the most delicious lamb for Easter Dinner!

22 Months, and here's looking at you, kid!

Still likes to do her fake eyes closed thing!

Little ham!

Always a smile when you can say something's "Mine!"

She's getting so tall these days!

It's harder and harder to get cooperation on these photo shoots every month, so I got creative, and after I dressed her in the signature underwear, I just let her do her thing all around the house...then it was up to me to be quick!

"Arwyn Transue? That's me!"

Little sweetie.

"Now Mom, I think you need to cool it on the pictures."

"Kiss my butt!"

"Who me? No, I didn't just say anything about my butt!"

She loves to rock and sing to her baby.

Now we get to see silly Arwyn!

She makes the best faces!

"Everybody run for it!"

"Hmm, let me see now..."

"So, let me get this straight.  You want me to stand still right here and look cute?"

"Quick, Mom, look over there!"

"...and I'm outa here; photo shoot's over!"

Leia's mostly been in a multicolor scribble phase recently, but this week she finally drew one of her great people again!  She did throw some scribble in there, of course.

Body, arms, hat, facial features...she's got it all down!

Glue project from school.

This one was actually from back in January, and I almost didn't bother to post it, but all of a sudden I looked more critically and realized what a great job she did filling in all the different colors and staying inside the lines!

Another really good coloring job from 4 months ago!
