Arwyn Week 49: Playful and Lovey - 5/26/2016

Arwyn is turning into a real little lovey.  I went to pick the kids up from school the other day and her teacher Lynsey says to me, "Your little Arwyn..."  I immediately thought something bad happened, but she went on the tell me a story about how another teacher Maria was holding her, and Arwyn reached out to pull Maria's head in for a big hug and a kiss, like she does at home to us.  Lynsey said it really brought tears to her eyes, and she wanted a kiss from Arwyn too.  So Lynsey went to pick Arwyn up herself, and what do you know, Arwyn delivered!  She loves to give hugs and kisses to people she cares for, it is so sweet.  Arwyn is also a tough little trooper.  She loves standing in the front of the wagon on rides, but the other day she stood there the entire way from our house to the Village at Squaw AND back!  So exhausted but happy as a clam.  She's also starting to figure out her sign language skills; she definitely used the sign for milk the other day.  Also, as I've mentioned before, she loves to climb.  Her current favorite activity is to head over to the stairs, climb right up like a champ, and head into Leia's room to play.  We actually have to put the gate up now when we aren't paying close attention, otherwise she's up the stairs in a flash!

This has not been a great week for Leia, as evidenced by the lack of pictures of her.  She is doing some serious testing of patience and limits with us, her loving parents.  She is hitting everyone, throwing food and objects at us if we upset her, and constantly whining.  Of course she alternates this horrible behavior with being totally sweet, caring, and generous, but that switch flips instantly and constantly.  It's like living with Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde.  I think it may be partially due to a case of jealousy of her little sister.  She's been regressing to wanting many baby things, being fed like a baby, and saying that she's not a big girl: "I'm a baby.  I want to stay little forever."  It's tough,  because even at school they tell her she's a big girl because 1) she's physically huge, and 2) she's potty training and doing other things that older kids do.  Oh well, she just has to learn the advantages of being a big girl.  Or maybe we have to help show her...??  On the positive note, she has made even more huge strides in her "hide and seek" skills.  The other day she found a spot so good that I couldn't even find her, and I actually freaked out for a minute.  She finally came back out smiling.

Happily playing as a group, big girls and little girl alike!

I know from personal experience, it's so awesome to have a best buddy right next door!

"Hmm, this looks like a pretty cool hideout."

Leia realizing that Arwyn is really onto something with her new fort!

Pretty psyched about her new hideout!

Arwyn and the big girls all enjoying the new fort she found!

Love this little cutie and how much she likes to play!

Getting goofy on Daddy Day.

Jammies all day is so comfy!

Ah, sleeping babies are so sweet.
