Arwyn Week 48: Clapping to Celebrate 11 Whole Months! - 5/19/2016

Arwyn turned 11 months old this week!  Wow, I can't believe that means it's only a month away from her birthday.  It's been way to fast, and I wish she could stay this cute, little, and sweet forever.  Clearly that's not possible, so I'll just have to hope she stays cute and sweet forever no matter what size she is.  She started clapping her hands with joy this week, which is so fun.  And when I was down trying to clean up the floor with a sponge, she started mimicking me, trying to wipe up the floor herself too.  Arwyn had her first "professional" haircut with our favorite Stephanie this week.  Just a little clean up so it will hopefully keep growing out better.  She just sat in my arms, was very cooperative, and held pretty still as long as I kept giving her little butterfly kisses on her cheek.  Unfortunately for me, Arwyn as been waking up once a night for the last week, but she goes right back to sleep after milk.  I assume she's either growing or teething.  The number one Arwyn cuteness of the week is how much she loves to give hugs and kisses to me.  I'll be holding her up in my arms, and she will put a hand on either side of my head to pull me in close to her.  The she gives me a big wet kiss and a squeezie hug, which she holds on to for awhile.  It is the most wonderful thing, just makes you feel so special!

Leia has started talking a lot about where she lives and works when she's a "big girl."  The other day while we were driving to Truckee, she points up to two different sets of mountains and says, "That's where Daddy works.  And that's where I live and work."  I ask, "Oh nice.  What do you do for work?"  Very matter-of-factly she replies, "Find treasures."  I had to laugh because that couldn't be a more true statement; she is literally a professional treasure hunter these days!  She's also started to be a professional manipulator.  Josh is constantly giving in/rewarding her for what he calls her infallible logic.  She's definitely getting creative with the excuses!  Plus, when she wants to do something she thinks we won't like, she just tells us to go away.  The other day she was about to start drawing on the walls, but Josh was right there, so she says to him, "Go away Daddy!"  Sorry, we aren't going anywhere!  I had an interesting look into her social psyche recently.  She's getting better at sharing her toys, but it turns out, sharing her friends is not one of her skills yet.  We ran into her best friend Kenzie at the park the other day, and they were both so happy and excited to see each other.  They played together perfectly until another girl from school showed up.  All of a sudden Leia didn't have one-on-one time with Kenzie, and she had to share her.  She was really upset when she didn't get the swing next right next to her, even though the other swing was technically next to her, just not quite as close.  She also didn't have control over where they would play next.  It really through her for a loop, and then they got into a fight, and the trip was done.  On the one hand, it really surprised me considering they are always in a group situation at school, but on the other hand, it didn't surprise me because Leia likes to be in charge and losing control is not an option.  Plus, Kenzie likes to just do her own thing, so I'm surprised the two of them ever get along!  And actually, maybe they won't much longer.  When we were at gymnastics the other day, Leia made a new little friend, but we never got the kid's name, so Leia decided that she would be her "New Kenzie".

Our little climber, busted in the act!

Only people who have seen the movie "Frozen" will appreciate this photo, but upon discovering the helpless Olaf sitting on the foot stool, Arwyn instantly tried to eat his carrot nose!

Beautiful Princess Leia braid and twist after her haircut.

She's become a little pro at the whole haircut thing!

Arwyn's first haircut...also a pro!

Driving her jeep with the top down, showing off her new braid!

Two peas in a pod driving their car built for two!

Arwyn is really starting to gain an appreciation for this great park!

Lucky us, we happened to show up on train day!

This big train was almost as fun as her wagon!

Swinging sisters!

Arwyn is always ready to have a good time!

"All aboard the train!"  What great luck, we found Kenzie and Lizzy on board this train!

Arwyn was diggin' the scenery as the train wound its way around the park.

The train was a hit...we'll definitely have to get over here again this summer!

Leia's first time growing grass...maybe she'll take after her Nana in the garden.

Arwyn's modeling career debut...she's the official role model for perfect cognitive development!  So advanced!  (To read the captions, click on the photo for a larger image.)

Leia's hide-and-seek skills are advancing rapidly...inside the cabinet with the doors closed!

Finding herself in a pit full of balls really blew Arwyn's mind!

Where did she get these beautiful cat eyes?

"Seriously, Mom, did you see all these balls?  It's like a dream come true!"

Fired up to have just buried that pesky sister of hers alive!

Getting strong enough to hang on the rings!

Oh boy, this looks like trouble...Arwyn, look out!

And then she pulls it off...potential death threat turns to sisterly love!

Feet through the rings, toes pointed...great form!

Look who turned 11 months old!

Playful little flirt!

Good sense of humor!

Strength and balance.

So many great positions she gets into now...definitely have to be quick because she's too busy to hold still for long!

"I'm eleven and I'm cute."

Uh oh, now there's trouble!

She's got all the moves; standing up unassisted is coming soon!

"Hey, did you all see this? It says I'm eleven!"

Hmm, what do you see up there?

So stinking cute!

"I love you Mommy!"

She still loves that happy tongue!

Yep, everything is so funny these days!

Puppy dog eyes!

Climbing up the stairs all by herself and happily checking out the world below!

"Look at me, I'm way up high!"

Mommy/Arwyn selfie!

Soft cheek smash!

For obvious reasons, I never see Arwyn drinking out of a bottle.  I asked Josh to document for me, so here she is.

He says she very good at drinking a bottle all by herself...clearly!
