L&A Years 4&2 Week 52: Father's Day Polar Bear Swim - 6/21/2018

Leia has apparently learned her first life lesson about same sex marriages, and she fortunately we have raised her right so far because she's taking a liberal stance, which was music to her father's ears: "Did you know that a girl can marry another girl?  I'm going to marry Jordan."  Leia seemed more cooperative this week, for the most part, so I think my school visits are working.  But she is still in the angry, hitting phase when she does get angry, so that's still a bummer.  We had a fun play date with our friend Avery.  They did lots of treasure hunting, and Leia was mostly pretty independent, so that was nice.  Leia was absolutely desperate to spend her money at the hardware store this week.  We almost had her convinced to save her money for two weeks to get the crystals she wanted, but she still just HAD to by something small.  Leia was super excited and really wanting to make "big plans" with her Dad for Father's Day.  Initially she wanted to go to the museum, but changed to the pond and  insisted on it despite it being a freezing cold day.  She did do a great job at the polar bear swim though!  The girls had a huge fight over a pair of socks that I accidentally put in Arwyn's drawer that were Leia's.  Neither girl would concede to the other, and Leia started hitting, so I took the socks away completely.  Finally everyone calmed down, and got distracted by the fact that we realized it was Arwyn's birthday.  Then Leia capitalized on it and gave Arwyn a different pair of bright pink socks that were supposedly "special to her."  That made Arwyn happy, so then Leia got her original socks back, and everyone was happy again.  That Leia can be so resourceful when she puts her mind to it!  I was really happy because Leia didn't cry when I had to leave after her school visits this week, and she wasn't acting so jealous because she actually wanted me to go see Arwyn too.  (Previously she was getting great satisfaction knowing that I was only seeing her and not Arwyn.)  I was glad that she was feeling better about my attention giving and ready to share me again.

Arwyn also HAD to buy something at the hardware store with her money.  It's always such a long search and decision process with both of them, both finding something they can afford and picking which is perfect and most desirable.  She also wanted to save her money for the crystals, but bought something small too, switching from a light up spikey ball to a can of Pringles at the last second.  It's so funny, more often then not, it seems like Arwyn chooses to buy food over toys with her money.  I also find it funny that they usually need to have everything the same, but when they are picking things to buy with their own money, they tend to pick different things (and Leia always ends up jealous of Arwyn's pick!  Luckily Arwyn tends to share.)  Arwyn made the funniest comment the night that Josh wore jeans for the first time in 5 years, and basically for the first time in Arwyn's lifetime.  "Daddy, why you wearing Mommy's pants?" Josh has lost over 30 lbs in the last 3 months while doing the Arbonne Healthy Living and Beyond eating program, so he's finally fitting in his old jeans again.  But I'm usually the only one who ever wears jeans in our household!  Arwyn had so much fun playing in the sand and marching around through the water at the Alpine Pond on Fathers Day.  She's also getting so picky and particular about her clothes these days; getting her dressed has started to get a little frustrating!  The girls are in a new phase of loving to say goodnight to each other before bed.  They'll already be in their own rooms and realize they didn't give each other a hug yet, and go running back.  It's super cute, but clearly a great stalling tactic because they insist on doing it even if they were just mad at each other seconds before.  Well, I guess it's a good thing, learning not to go to bed angry!

We had a really fun Arbonne Pilates and Nutrition event down in Reno this week with some of my great clients!

We are trying some new Arbonne Healthy Living approved meals...yum!

The girls have started not only allowing, but actually requesting Stephanie to wash their hair on haircut days.  It's absolutely maddening how relaxed they are and how much they love it because they do nothing but scream at the top of their lungs when I try to wash their hair!!!

Keeping it silly and fun!

Check out all that gorgeous sun lightened hair!!  Wish mine still did that.

Amazing how a good haircut will put back the bounce in your hair and the spring in your step!

Checking out the fancy products.

Also smiling and loving the hair wash!  I guess we need one of these sinks at home!

She's really getting into the whole spa experience.

Loves to be pampered!

The haircut wouldn't be complete without a special Stephanie braid!

Leia chose the Elsa Braid today.

Skinny dipping at Bear Creek Pond!

Flippers and leg warmers...that's a "thing," right?

I love it when Leia actually gets fired up about cleaning and helping!

The marching train!

Marching Arwyn!

Arwyn liked to march through the water, which was pretty smart because it was way too cold for swimming.  But you better stay in proper formation when following this drill sergeant!

Brrr, that water's cold!

Today was officially the Transue Polar Bear Swim Contest.  Leia was the clear winner.

Running in and out is the best way to deal with cold water!

She dunked...

...oh yeah, it's cold!

Watch out for the Polar Bear Monster!!

Always key to bring your dad along to warm you up!

It was a chilly day, but Leia's father's day plans of swimming at the pond were not to be thwarted!  She had a lot of fun doing the polar bear swim!

Warm Daddy bear hugs!

The cold day was better suited for some Father-Daughter sand play.

That's some serious digging...Arwyn's really getting her whole body into it!

It wouldn't be fun to build without the option to smash!

Excited about the new Bocce Ball court, but mostly for shell collecting as opposed to playing bocce.

I love when Leia lets Arwyn climb on her, it's so cute!

Almost 5 year old Leia's version of Josh in 2018.

Look at this handsome Daddy of ours who's down 30 lbs after 3 months of Arbonne Healthy Living!

The before and after really puts it into perspective!!

The rainbow bright twins on the day of the big sock fiasco.  Notice how you can't even see the socks that Leia was so worried about being able to wear!  And Arwyn is super psyched about her new bright pink socks.

Arwyn the birthday girl today!!  This is age 3!

Beautiful evening on Lake Tahoe for the Annual Summer Solstice Party!

The girls were all about rock collecting!

Look at this pretty one, and this one, and another, and another!

Arwyn was very proud of all her cool finds!

The solstice gang.

The girls did not want to stop rock hunting to eat dinner.
