Arwyn Week 34: Splits! - 2/11/2016

Arwyn is spending more and more time up on her hands and knees, and while last week it was more of a forward scoot, this week she did make one forward crawl step!  She's still got the roll and a very long reach mastered, so for the moment, she only needs the one step to get what she needs...I guess crawling will continue to wait.  She's also spending most of her time sitting up these days, which she is now a master at, and if she wants to reach something from that position she's learned the sitting forward scoot.  She's standing up much better now too, but still not a pro at that because the longer she stands, the more her legs slide out into the splits.  She went all the way into a full split on the ground and got stuck and was pissed. I, who has never been able to do the splits was both jealous and thought it was hilarious!  On the not so fun side, Arwyn spent the week projectile vomiting.  They thought she was sick at school, but the temperature went away really quick while the vomiting did not.  We had to stop the eating practice because that always makes her vomit and I didn't want to add to what was already just happening from the milk.

Leia is really doing well on her skis.  She has great balance, is not afraid to go fast, and can skate/walk all by herself.  We just need to work on turning and stopping now!  She's still really enjoying reading her stories to me, which always makes me happy that she's so good at improvising.  The main problem we had this week was that she got it in her head that she doesn't like baths, and she kept refusing.  I let it slide a couple nights, but finally we couldn't put it off any more.  That night when she balked, I told her she could either get in the bath now or go straight to bed now, with no stories, no milk, and no songs.  She chose straight to bed and I couldn't believe it!  The best part was that it was actually a win-win for everyone: Josh and I gained almost an hour of free time since we didn't have to do her night routine and it was a little early, and Leia didn't have to take her bath.  The funny part was, she was so exhausted and fired up about the whole exchange, that when she chose "straight to bed," she sort of said it in a way that she needed a nap, and that is exactly what happened.  We tucked her into bed and she was literally asleep before her head hit the pillow, but a little while later she woke up again.  She stayed in bed and played with her toys until she fell asleep again, but it was just so interesting that she really could recognize her condition.

After patiently watching all the tractors building the new pedestrian tunnel for a year, Leia, Arwyn, and I finally got to go test it out...great echos!

It's a hat train!

Baby Giraffe attempts to heard bossy big sister out of way.

Is that not the cutest little giraffe you've ever seen?

This little giraffe even plays the piano...maybe we can make money in the circus!

Leia's Wedding Hat.

It was definitely a bling bling jingle bells kind of day!

"It was hanging in the air right next to me...you're supposed to eat this thing right?"

Precariously standing but totally loving it...until she fell over that is!

Uh oh, wider, wider, wider...splits!  Help I'm stuck!

Loving this position, but not yet convinced that it's the most efficient way to get where she wants to go...rolling is really the best!

"Ha ha, you thought I was going to crawl...gotcha!"

The Princess relaxing in her throne!

DJ Arwyn mixing up the sweet beats!

Oh yeah, she's happy!

Yay, family ski day!

Straight legs are fast!

Trying out the ski pole method to control her speed but give her independence.

Bombing down the steeper faster part of the hill is no problem for this little ripper!

Wouldn't even let go of her Valentine's bag from Grandma for 1 minute to eat!

A little Surf 'n Turf date night dinner courtesy of MumMum...delicious and thank you!

And finally got a ski day with my handsome husband!

Where's Willow?  She's back at her old hiding tricks again!
