Leia Week 48: 11 Month Old Hits the Beach! - 5/28/2014

Leia turned 11 months old this week, and man did she have the time of her life!  We made our annual pilgrimage down to the Robinson Beach House in Carpinteria, CA to hang on the beach with a bunch of our friends.  Leia doesn't like to sleep in the car anymore, in fact she doesn't like to sit still at all, so the car ride is pretty much torture for everyone. Fortunately we were able to break up the 9.5 hour drive a bit by stopping in Fairfield for lunch with Grandma and then spending the night in Monterey with Aunt Lucy and Uncle Bob.  Then scooted the rest of the way down the coast and hit the beach.  And let me tell you, Leia loves everything about the beach!!  Endless crawling in the sand, so many things to pick up and discover, extreme excitement chasing waves, beach glass, beach volleyball, and lots of time outside exploring.  Total heaven.  Everyone was sad to say goodbye and have to hit the long road home.  Side note about her milestones - she's still experimenting with the cautious steps of solo walking, but continues to prefer speedier forms of travel: crawling at high speeds or holding Daddy with two hands and running!

So many fun things to play with at Grandma's house!

Lunch out on the cafe patio.

Good view of her cute top teeth.

Wiggle monster!

Fussy baby calmed to tranquility in the arms of Uncle Bob.

Cricket was very interested in and protective of Baby Leia.

Walking around with Aunt Lucy while Cricket sneaks in to check her out from the back.

Cricket just can't get enough of Leia!

Neo humping Josh while Cricket comes racing to the rescue of her baby!

First contact with some nice thick and soft sand…glorious!

Can't believe I have free reign of this place, this is awesome!

Playing in the waves was quite an exciting new experience.

Charging forward for more!

Finding some great balance.

Charge!  Here I come you pesky wave!

Oh no, here it comes again…get back!

Man this is the coolest thing!

Squealing with delight after every wave and totally cracking us up!

Don't touch me you wet dirty baby!

Talk about a beautiful place to eat a little dinner.

A friendly game of sunset beach volleyball.

Just love the views from this court.

Sunset yoga with Chelsea.

Always love this view looking up the coast.

Gorgeous sunset on night one.

Nice to back to the ocean and see the waves crashing.

Another sunset shot…so pretty.

Hi Chels!

Angeline, Lizard, and Trev enjoying some margs from Sunset Deck.

Prado and Chelsea getting snuggly.

Much needed chillaxing after a long drive with a crying infant.

The reigning Leg Wrestling Champion, Lizard Kenny (only person she didn't demolish was Josh).

Leia back in action exploring the yard.

Beach bocce with Josh and P-Bone.

So many fun things to find in the sand!

Oh no, its Prado…Run for it Leia!

Absolutely loving her newfound freedom and the great views from the deck.

Supervising the cleanup of her new sandbox (aka volleyball court)…Good job Dad, keep up the good work!

Awe, what a sweet little face!

It was hours of entertainment with the endless studying and sorting of her beach glass.

Pissed!  What a great face!!

A nice walk on the beach is calming for just about anyone!

Warming up after her big ocean swim.

Let's see what kind of good stuff Anna has over here.

Yup, Anna is pretty fun to play with, and she has a cool red drink that I think I can snatch!

Showing Dad her beach glass piles.

My handsome dude!

So many interesting things to grab around here.

Who knew that Prado was good with kids??!!

That is one cool cat!

Cheese? I'll take some of that please.

Daddy and Baby looking all cute with their matching shades!

Leia decided to join our big game of beach volleyball…she's got skills for sure!

The exciting realization that she could keep crawling forward for days without bounds!

Checking out the surf!

Dad teaching Leia how to skip rocks in the water.

It's a regular rock gold mine around here!

She loves the Mom hugs these days!

Alright already, enough pictures, I've got exploring to do here!

Beaching running!

Feeling refreshed after a little ocean dunk.

Outdoor shower time with Dad!

Family photo on a beautiful sunny day…wish we didn't have to go.
