Leia Week 80: Leia Hits the Slopes - 1/7/2014

Leia had her first ski day this week.  It's actually inaccurate to call it her first day because she did go skiing last year at only 10 months old, but I think this was really more of an official debut since she can stand up by herself and slide her skis around a bit.  She can also enjoy it better this time, since as an 18 month old she understands a little better what's going on.  And man does she love going fast!  Little daredevil definitely takes after her Mom!

Leia has also officially graduated into the Toddler Room at school.  She has kind of outgrown the infant room for awhile now, always a little bored when she arrives and sees only small babies and no one her own age.  So she's been really happy every time they let her go "practice" being in the Toddler Room, and always asked to go over there.  Of course, now that she's officially in the room, she's not as happy about it.  She's cried every day that I've dropped her off so far, which she never did in the Infant Room (she has always loved school).  It's very weird, but I guess she liked being in charge and deciding which room she wanted to be in, and now that she can't go back to her comfort zone when she wants, she's a bit uncomfortable.  Oh well, I'm sure she'll get used to it, and her teacher Jenny is still one of her favorites.

Checking the time on her new watch.

Big air!

Heading up the Magic Carpet for her very first run!

Still a little unsure about what this skiing thing is all about...

At the top, ready to go!

Success!  Check out that big smile!

Skiing is sooo fun!

Figuring out the balance between too far forward and too far back.

Also figuring out how much Dad will hold her up vs. making her stand.

Already standing and kicking the skis around on her own...so advanced!

Now she's liking this ride!

Leia Week 79: Revenge of Leia's Playhouse - 12/31/14

In the aftermath of a hugely successful Christmas gift season for Leia, our house has once again become Leia's Playhouse, aka. a total disaster of fun.  She loves all her new toys, but especially her new dolls and baby doll stroller.  And her trampoline!  She is really perfecting her jumps…it's amazing how high she can already get compared to her first day.  And she loves to add in a few dance moves between jump sessions; it's quite hilarious.  I got my first day of skiing for the season, thanks to our new favorite baby sitter Cary Matthews.  And we got Leia's skis mounted and a pair of boots rented for the season, so she is ready to hit the slopes herself next week!  She's been sick and congested with a horrible cough and runny nose for almost 2 months now, but the doctors don't seem to think there is anything to be done, and she's handling it quite well…doesn't seem to slow her down much at all.

Even a simple Merry Christmas balloon is an awesome toy!

Nana wanted documentation of Leia's street walker suit...one of her favorites!

Leopard print and BBQing are a perfect combo!

Fun to do stompies when you're wearing a stiff shoes and a suit with a "hook" (aka, hood)!

Dec 26th...Mommy's first day of skiing!  With Jonathan and Dan.

Was actually a fabulous day...better to wait for great windblown snow on Headwall then torture yourself early season with rocky groomers on Gold Coast!

Thanks to our new favorite baby sitter, Cary Matthews, for giving Mommy her first day on snow!

Helping Mom shovel the path.

Loves her headphones because they are ALMOST like Dad's!

Our little snow bunny, ready to hit the slopes in her leopard skin ski pants and new rentals!

Enjoying a lazy and cozy day-after-Christmas morning in her new Uggs.

The little goof loves her glasses!

Leia Week 78: Learning About Christmas - 12/24/2014

Leia is as goofy as ever, and just loving life, as displayed by the following collage of silliness!  We made her a new Leia sized table, and it's her new favorite place to eat.  She pretty much won't sit in her highchair at all anymore.  And she still loves playing with those sunglasses!  She's learning more about snow (or "no" as she refers to it) and all it's fun, work, and challenges…shoveling was cool for about 3 minutes!  And we celebrated another Christmas.  It was definitely a learning experience for everyone.  We thought she'd be more into it this year than last, but really, she had no interest in unwrapping presents, the whole event was pretty overwhelming and exhausting, and in the end she just wanted the new, unwrapped toys, but didn't care how or why they arrived.  Josh and I learned that wrapping things was a mistake, and that Mom and Dad are supposed to assemble everything ahead of time so that you can play with it instantly!  She was so pissed to see the cool pictures on the boxes but not be able to play with any of the stuff.  Oh well, we got it all put together by the end of her morning nap and the rest of the day was soooo much fun!

Pissed that her new trampoline wasn't just jump ready…"Can I jump on the box?"

Learning that this tramp is horrible to build and that we should have done it ahead of time!  Oh well.

Hooray! Here is one happy jumper…jumpy jumpy jumpy!

Feeding her baby and showing her how to "open wide"!

Look at all the loot!  Thank you Gram Gram and Grandpa!
