Arwyn turned 15 months old and started to like dancing a lot this week. She has this awesome move that she does with her arms folded up under her like the Funky Chicken. You can tell she's enjoying listening to the beat and exploring resulting body movement. So cute. She's also producing some great babbling sentences, with her favorite phrase being something about "me-yo, me-yo, me-yo!" It's the cutest little sound ever! She keeps trying to play with Leia (or copy what Leia is doing), but it tends to go badly when she doesn't do exactly what Leia wants. Then Leia freaks out and yells at her, or takes away the toy that Leia doesn't want her to have at that particular moment, or Leia just plain old hits her out of frustration. In other words, they are trying to play together more and more but there tends to be a lot of crying when they play! Arwyn is also getting more and more insistent about feeding herself. She sees us eating stuff, wants some of it, and wants to do it herself! More and more I've been giving her the entire half sandwich and letting her bite off it at her own pace, rather than breaking it up into pieces for her. And she totally surprised me the other day when she insisted on holding and eating almost an entire banana!
Leia, per usual, is showing us what a total smarty pants rock star she is. She is only 3 years and 2 months old, and already she has figured out how to spell her own name: L E I A! She got stung by a bee this week, which was almost exactly a year since her last sting, which was weird. She was pretty distraught for a little, but we got some medicine on it right away, and after a little time of getting to be a hurt patient, she got over it pretty quickly. With so many bees this summer, I guess we are lucky that this was first time. She is so funny about when she decides to be shy or not. When we went to the make-up gymnastics class, she was super shy and wouldn't participate or leave my side. But then at the park, she runs off to play with some little girl and never looks back. What the heck!? She was also more animated and outgoing with our friend Jonathan when he came for breakfast than she's ever been; gave him a full house and yard tour without needing me or Josh along. She made up a new art game this week where she would turn to a new page in her notebook, ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and then would draw that. She did it over and over, using a new page each time. Great game, but of course I was tweaking about the paper waste! She found these horrible little pink tutu/ballet slipper tights that are made for size 3 months (that I had clearly done a bad job hiding), and then spent the rest of the week wearing them all day long in the house. These things don't come up past her knees and are very hard for her to walk in, but she wants ballet slippers so badly, that she will deal with the hassle of these imitations! I even had to lift her into bed because she can't lift her leg up to climb in while wearing them. So ridiculous! We've also had many pretend ballet classes while wearing these things.

Leia decided we needed to make a Birthday Cake for Arwyn...it was a fun project, delicious cake, and great celebration of Arwyn's very merry unbirthday!
Impressing me with her whole banana eating skills!
Happy she's eating a banana, but not necessarily impressed by the skills (she's 3 after all).
Such a little cutie.
Leia says she's in jail; Arwyn thinks her sister is weird.
Helmet and no shoes running down the street...what's wrong with this kid's mother?

Leia's stick dog tail.
Leia decided the Matthews' lawn looked like a perfect spot for a picnic, so we invited ourselves since no one was home!
We also discovered a fun new play structure next door!
Arwyn did alright for her first time by herself on a big kid swing...until Leia tried to push her that is!
15 Month Old Photo Shoot...she's on the move these days, hard for the cameraman to keep up!
She's still got that happy tongue!
Always standing, never lying down.
"Uh oh, where'd that ball go?"
The serious side of Arwyn.
The goofy side of Arwyn.

The silly side of Arwyn.
Arwyn is so psyched when she gets to be at the big girl table acting silly with her big sister.
Very proud of this strange new drinking invention.

Trying to get her hair to stay flat again?
Sister bonding time.
Doesn't quite feel like a legitimate date night when you are in the midst of a total disaster zone, but hey, at least we try!
