My little Arwyn is starting to LOVE music. Whenever some music comes on, she squeals with delight, and starts doing her little dances. She likes to play the piano too. The best is when Leia gets the music on the synthesizer going, and Arwyn starts adding her own beats on the piano while dancing at the same time. She's in total heaven. Arwyn has also figured out how to brush her own hair. I'm not sure who exactly she's been watching to pick up that skill set, but she just grabbed the brush the other day and went for it. We were hesitant to go here until now since it was sort of a truthful joke about Leia and we didn't want to be too presumptuous to say it about both kids, but clearly Arwyn is also so advanced!! We have also hesitated to put it out there prematurely, but Leia has given Arwyn her first nickname, and it seems to be sticking: "Googie" (pronounced like cookie but with hard g's). It's definitely a playful, joking, baby name, so I don't think it will stick around in the long run, but we say it enough in jest that I had to document it.
Leia had a bit of a development this week herself. She independently figured out the concept of psyching someone out, and used it on her Dad (neither of us have ever done this to her, so it seems like it has to be an independent discovery). Anyway, the other day she says to Josh, "Daddy, I had an accident!" Josh, totally bummed about the cleanup in his future, says "Ok, lets go clean it up. Where is it?" And in true psych/gotcha form Leia gives him a goofy smile and says, "In the potty!" Josh was cracking up. The two of them have many other little inside jokes together. Another little banter they share is related to their "roles" in Star Wars. Scary Daddy Josh (aka, Darth Vader) says to our Leia (aka, Princess Leia) "Where are the plans?" He proceeds to grab her and wrestle her, while interrogating her about where she's hidden the plans for the secret star base (see Star Wars, Episode IV). Leia starts laughing, gives up her defenses, and yells "In the sand! The plans are in the sand!" It's pretty cute and hilarious! Last funny Leia story for the week happened when Josh was in the bathroom trimming his beard. Leia asks me what he was doing, and I explained that he was making his beard shorter and when he was finished, he would be so handsome. Leia goes to investigate, and after a few minutes of watching him she says, "Daddy, how did you get to be soooo handsome?" Too cute, and yes, how did he get so handsome, that cute Daddy of ours??

Arwyn already loves helping Leia cook up some tasty meals in the microwave and grill!

Crazy hot tub antics on another fun Daddy Day!
Apparently Josh was trying to rack up Father of the Year points by busting out new hot tub boats and a bicycle built for 3 all on one great day!
The Arwyn playmate factor is making baths slightly more enticing, but only up till the actual wash time...3 years of practice and Leia still screams bloody murder when you try to poor water on her head!
