Arwyn Week 15: Getting Rolly - 10/1/2015

Arwyn is getting more rolly this week.  She can go from her back to a little bit past her side, so a full roll may be soon.  She also likes to play peekaboo right now...love those endless smiles!  She got back the better jumper, and man does she like to go crazy in it.  She doesn't get overstimulated in it, so she can stay in it quite awhile (so we have to be more vigil ourselves about limiting it), and she's figured out how to get fast and furious airtime.  Definitely a natural, and very advanced!

Leia has been an amazing sleeper all summer.  When I was in charge of her morning routine, she always woke up before 7 am.  Now that Josh is in charge, she snoozes until 7:30, almost 8.  One day there was even a miraculous 9:45 sleep in!!  And then, when you go in her room to get her up and turn on the lights, she yells, "It's too sunny!"  Already like a teenager, so advanced!  She's also taken to saying, "Hayayula!" every time she does something she's happy about.  We were playing outside, and every time she found a special rock and put it on the table, she would yell "Hayayula" again.  So funny, especially considering that she has previously had trouble with 'L's' but in this case, she's pronouncing the 'L' but just in the wrong place!

Getting that head so high!

Chowing on her new favorite...pasta with pesto!

Cuddles with Biby are the best!

Little badass rocking Octoberfest in her new denim dress!

Master of the Corn Hole!

Big prizes for drinking a beer that's bigger than your body!

She is so fun when she's having fun!

Big E is walking these days!

Nice tongue buddy!

Family of fans!

Happy about the latest victory!

Go team!

The weather has been perfect all summer long, and then it gets cloudy the night of the Eclipse!

Couldn't see it at it's prime, but Josh got these cool shots a little later once the clouds dispersed.

Checking out the morning sky.

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands!

Leia always tried to snooge out of the bumbo, but Arwyn is more tolerant...this is the extent of her mini-snooging.

Holding herself up between my legs!

Did you see all my jumps Mom?!

I love how expressive she is with those eyebrows.

People are starting to say she looks like me...me and mini me?

Check out the angles she's getting on this roll...over half way!

This smile just can't be beat!

Super Leia!

Daddy's getting to bust out his artistic talents more and more these days!

Leia wouldn't let him finish the book, but Arwyn was totally engrossed!

Daddy's little girl!

Love watching babies sleep!

Arwyn Week 14: Adorable Arwyn is 3 Months - 9/24/2014

Arwyn turned 3 months old this week, and she started rolling over onto her side.  She got her first cold, which is always so sad to see such a little person have coughs, sneezes, and congestion, but she was pretty tough.  She's also starting to take longer naps in her bed, which is great, and she's getting good at going back to sleep on her own if she wakes up after a sleep cycle but still wants to sleep.  We discovered this week that Arwyn seems to have a sensitivity to garlic and/or nuts.  After 3 days of heavy garlic foods (with some nuts), she went back to her major screaming and obvious discomfort after feeds, followed by lots of pukes.  I'm cutting them both out for now, and well see what happens.

Leia had her first time drawing on the walls, which sucked.  Luckily she just used a pencil, so I think we can wash it, but we've actually left it there as a reminder of what not to do (or maybe I'm just too busy to get rid of it!)  Anyway, so far the incident seems to be the only one, so hopefully she got the message.  We also discovered that Leia loves Pasta with Pesto!  She was shoveling it down as fast as she does the Mac and Cheese, which really made me happy.  And our little brainiac was already counting up into the teens...she made it all the way to 19!  So impressive!

Smiley, serious, happy, sweet, and patient, that's our Arwyn.

Hey you!

Arwyn's signature rooster tail...post shower here, it's actually rather tame!

Little wiggles.

Hip hip hooray!

Halleluja, I'm 3!

Tall and skinny is what the doctor charts say.

Ok mom, enough pictures yet?

Fine, I'll give you another smile!

Tongue smiles!

Just resting.

Whoa, what's that?!

Ponied up at the bar, chatting with Graham!

Go Steelers!

Rockin' the same hairdos!

Workin' those baby pushups!

Yep, this really happened...don't know where she gets her sense of style!  Well, actually I do, must be her Grandma and her MumMum since they pick out the clothes in the first place!

Family day at the park.

Lil' big truck badass.

Flashback comparison at 14 weeks!

Arwyn Week 13: Carmel Ocean Fun - 9/17/2015

Arwyn started grabbing onto my fingers, and with her feet braced against my pelvis, she can pull/push herself up to standing.  She is so strong!  Also, since we were out of town and without our beloved swing, we went back to trying naps out of the swing.  They were short at first, but they are slowly building up to better lengths.  She's been using a voice quite a bit to coo at us, so that's been fun as well.  And now that I've gotten myself dairy-free, we seem to be doing better at feedings and have a much happier baby.  Still a bit of spit up though.

Leia had a rough week of fun.  She bit the dust while running on the sandy parking lot and got a huge bloody scrape above her lip.  She also got a little "no see 'em" bug bite above her eye.  But she had a fabulous time playing in the ocean and sand.  It's funny how that  probably felt like her "first time," when actually she had had just as much fun a year earlier but most likely doesn't remember.  One day when we were back home, Leia was walking through the dining room, looking at something on the shelf, and talking to herself.  Josh heard her say, "I have an idea."  It was in a somewhat sinister voice that made us worry, "oh boy, what's she up to and how did a two year old get so calculating??"  Funny stuff!

We spent the first two nights of our trip to Carmel at Lucy and Bob's house in Monterey (last post), and then we headed to Joanne's house over in Carmel for the last two.  Aunt Joanne took us to  explore Point Lobos, a fun park in town, the beach for some picnics and kite flying adventures, and lots of fun arts and crafts at her house.  Between all the fun daytime adventures, and the delicious meals at night, we definitely had a blast on our adventure!  However, traveling with kids is no easy feat, and I don't think either of us are in a rush to head anywhere again for quite some time!  The drive home did go a little better then the drive back.  Leia fell asleep for a nap pretty much right away, which only lasted about an hour, and then when it got dark she fell asleep again, and she was much more mellow on the awake time in between.  Josh did convince me to let her discover that we actually have a DVD player in the car, but that actually didn't entertain her as much as he hoped it would.  But she also hasn't asked to watch it again around town, which was what I was worried about.

Beautiful old oak trees make a great spot for a swing in Lucy and Bob's yard.

This girl loves her swings!

Helping Uncle Bob put some bait in the squirrel traps!

All the girls!

Cute little foot!

Perfect little hands!

Modern day see-saw!

Here we go Arwyn, hang on!

Great slide!

Arwyn's first swing!

Sisters in tandem!

Parks and stand-ups...the two best things!

Ocean view hike at Point Lobos.

Steep steps down to Hidden Beach.

I love these two!

So excited for the waves!

Yep, water's a little cold!

Joanne and Katharine (and Arwyn) taking in the beautiful views.

It was a little chilly, but still gorgeous!

Things that make you go "hmmm."

Tough week for Leia with the scraped up lip and red, stingy eye.

Charging through the sand!

Nice spot for a picnic!

Enjoying a little wind in the face and sand on the tongue!

First dip in the ocean!  It was cold, but it didn't seem to phase her.  Then again, Hurricane Leia is her sister, so of course nothing phases her!

Don't worry Arwyn, I won't let those big waves get you!

Another little dip!

It's a Leia butterfly!

She walks surprisingly well in Daddy's shoes!

First time flying a kite...

For Josh and Leia!

Leia needs a few more years, but Josh enjoyed it way more than he thought he would!

Mmm, sand tastes good!

Such a beautiful spot!

These two really had fun together this weekend!

Testing out the DVD player...she did not like having to wear the headphones!

Hot new pants!

Arwyn is very good at Mommy/Baby Yoga...goes the whole time without eating even if she's hungry! (Sometimes Teacher Nikki has to cuddle with her, but it's a win-win for all!)

All ready for picture day at school...picked out her own "pretty dress".

She likes to smile, just not for the camera!

Little Mommy!

Good push-ups Arwyn!

Really getting that head/neck up high!

Not quite tall enough, but she loves it anyway with her booster!

Life is good when I'm standing!

Arwyn got to go to school picture day too!

So fired up to have a new dress in her favorite color turquoise!
